About

Hello and welcome! I am so glad you’ve stopped by. My name is Danielle and you have stumbled upon my blog, Welcome Company.

I am a proud military wife (go Air Force) who married my sweet husband Gary 17 years ago. I am mom to one girly girl named Sara and two little wild men, David and Nathan … all amazing gifts from God who we adopted through the foster care system. Oh, and a sweet Golden Retriever mix named Gracie – she’s my baby too. I am a Renaissance Woman (which is really just a fancy way of saying that I have trouble focusing) who is happiest in my kitchen or my garden in the company of those I love.

Good company is all about connection. God has created us for community and has gifted us in unique ways to reach out to each other.  Being in the company of others has always been one of my greatest joys. I am a happy girl when I have a houseful of people to feed and fellowship with. But spending time one-one-one with my husband, one of my three kids, my mom or sisters or a good friend is just as wonderful and time I cherish.

Good company is about being open and welcoming and using your gifts to create warmth in your little corner of the world. For me, that notion takes on many forms. A peaceful and comfortable (although with three kids not always quiet or perfecty pulled together) home that is a place where friends are like family and all who enter are encouraged to sink into a soft chair, put their feet up and exhale the world. A delicious meal cooked for someone because you care for them and want them to be happy (and well fed). A party that makes the guest of honor feel like a million bucks, well planned or spur of the moment. Gathering with other women to study God’s word and encourage and uplift one another. It is about welcoming a broken and hurting child into your home and making them family  – as God has done for us all. I am so thankful for the heart of hospitality He has given me and for the unique ways He has called me to use it; because it has been through reaching out (often beyond my natural comfort zone) and connecting with others that I have been most deeply and richly blessed.

I would love for you to join me on the journey ahead as I share my experiences, thoughts, family, home and love for Jesus. My greatest hope is that I can offer you encouragement, some great recipes, a laugh or two (probably because of something one of my kids says or does) and share, from my heart, the joy and hope God has given me even in the hard stuff. Especially in the hard stuff!

My house isn’t always clean and my laundry is never completely done, there may even be dishes in the sink (Martha Stewart does not live here and I do not have a staff) but you are welcome anyway. So please, come on in, join me and be at home. You are Welcome Company!

Beauty from Ashes, the story of how God made me a mom through adoption.

Meet the Company I Keep; The Main Cast of Characters, will tell you a little more about my family.

Thanks for stopping by, come back and visit soon.

If you’d like to contact me via e-mail, I would love to hear from you at welcomecompany@cox.net.

Now, to just figure out some of the technical stuff! Thanks also to you for inspiring me with your blog and your heart for God’s word and truth.

Thank you so much for visiting and for you kind words. I appreciate your compliment on my writing “style”. Sometimes I feel like I am all over the place but my hope is that it feels like we are sitting at the kitchen table talking over a cup of coffee. I promise it won’t be long before something else comes out of the oven; so be sure to stop back by. I can’t wait to visit your lovely blog again too!
